Easter, 23 April - 8 May, 2011 : A very royal holiday!

Saturday, 23 April: France, Spain, England...
Welcome Ruby and Finn!

Sunday, 24 April: An Ellis family lunch and a fair at Hampstead Heath
Rebecca, Jonathan, Rub,y Finn and I all had Easter lunch together at the Freemansons Arms in Hampstead. The children went on an Easter egg hunt at the pub... looking for gold balls in the garden, which were then exchanged for eggs. They had quite a good success rate, so shared them with some other children at the pub. After lunch we walked to the Heath and went on a few fun rides at the fair.

And then on to the Golden Gate at South End Green for a drink. Finn won a police kit at the fair, so the two of them handcuffed each other to a pole at the pub!

Finn staring as Barca's Messi. On Saturday night Messi scored two goals against Madrid, so on Sunday he was talk of the town, with Finn having a few people tell him, "It was you that won!"

Monday, 25 April: A picnic at the Heath

Playing at the park with Abigail.

Wednesday, 27 April: A spot of DJ-ing at Rebecca and Jonathan's
I had to do some work and we headed over to Rebecca's for the afternoon. She looked after Ruby and Finn while I worked in her room. Later, when Jonathan came home, it was time for a bit of music mixing.

Gorgeous boy!

Gorgeous girl!

Friday, 29 April: Royal Wedding Day
We went with Kirsty from No. 7 to the Roebuck to watch the wedding. It was so fabulous! I drunk mimosas and Ruby and Finn drank a variety of things - hot chocolate, J20, apple juice. We had a lovely time.

Finn make some wonderful cupcakes for David and Phil, using his racing car cupcake pans and cocktail sticks (a gift from Gran). The cupcakes were yummy, yummy white chocolate.

We were going to Devon the day after the royal wedding, so Ruby made a lovely banana cake. It really was delicious!

Saturday, 30 April: Beer, Devon
On Saturday morning we took the train to Axminster. Dave picked us up and took us back to Phil's tower near Beer in Devon. They were there for eleven days rebuilding Phil's beach hut and we were to stay three or four days.

The walk up to Phil's tower from the beach hut. Ruby and I were on our way to pick up the car and go and do the shopping. We left Finn to work on the hut with Phil and Dave.

While Ruby and I were gone doing the grocery shopping, Finn helped the boys. But look at the photo they set up of him helping!

Finn in hysterics as Phil strips to go into the cold, cold water to retrieve Finn's kickboard.

Phil admits to Finn that he is not David Beckham. At the evening barbecue.

 Crazy boy!

As Rebecca said, this really is a photo that has to come out at Finn's 21st!

Sunday, 1 May: May Day at Samphire and BB's place in the country
On Sunday we took a lovely drive in the countryside to go and visit Paula and the girls for the day at their country house in Devon. It is very beautiful and we had a lovely day. Paula put together a nice lunch and we both sat down - me sewing and Paula carving wood - while BB, Samphire, Ruby and Finn rehearsed a play. Later, they put it on for us - it was called something like "The Princess Who Became Ill". They did a fabulous job!

The play began with a procession over the hill...

 Lots of well-choreographed sword fighting!

 And dancing and general revelry!

The final bow and curtain call. Super children!

Later, we were happy to witness another wedding - such thoughts being on our mind after Friday.

 Kissing the bride!

I think that this is just a superb photo of Finn!

 And Lordy, a baby!

 Taking responsibilities seriously.

Ruby and BB doing some painting!
Thanks Paula, BB and Samphire for a lovely day. We had a great time.

Later, the weather turned but we still managed a barbecue outside... well, cooking outside! (Photos taken through the window.)

Monday, 2 May: Working on the beach hut
On Monday Ruby, Finn and I all went down to the hut to see how it was going. We were supposed to go back to London that day, but the boys worked too late, so we went out for dinner at The Anchor and stayed another night. We headed back on the Tuesday, taking virtually all day to make our way from Beer to London.

We always had cows outside our kitchen window at the tower. (And at night there were lots of rabbits running around the field.)

 Goodbye  beach hut!

Finn in Dave's jacket at The Anchor (he was cold apparently). We ate yummy fish and chips!

Thursday, 5 May: A trip to Chessington (and straight back!) and welcome to a new baby!
Our trip to Chessington was much awaited but we had to return as it started raining and I preferred to save the money and wait for a fine day. We didn't have any more time on this holiday but hopefully will go in August.

We were thrilled to hear that on the Sunday when we were in Devon (just two days after the royal wedding, Kirsty had her little son, Elliot. Here he is, only four days old! Kirsty and Clyde are just thrilled!

Friday, 6 May: Another lovely day at Rebecca's

Saturday, 7 May: Last whole day - off to the Air Force Museum
I needed to do some work and Dave kindly offered to take Ruby and Finn to the Air Force Museum in London. They came back with a HUGE load of photos! They also bought me a lovely present: a cup with different famous war planes on it, with a coaster and tray! Thank you! It looks like Ruby and Finn had a great time!

Godobye my darlings. Thank you for a lovely holiday (as usual!)... See you soon! XXX

Holiday update: the beach hut
I went back to Devon a couple of weeks after Ruby and Finn were here and great progess had been made!
