Tuesday, 2 August: A day in France with Simon and a late flight back to the UK
Simon and I came over for the day to find an old VHS of Dad that was in the garage. (Later we found out that the precious films were still in tact and Simon has digitsed the DVD - including a lovely video of Dad doing the Highland Fling!) After a lovely sunny afternoon in Collioure, we called back to the house around 7pm to pick up the children and we were on our way!
Finn on the plane. Dave picked us up at the airport so fortunately we had a pleasant trip back home. Simon went on the bus(es) from our place as Dave was going on to work.
Wednesday, 3 August: To the Heath
I had a day off work so we were able to enjoy a lovely, fine day at the Heath. We had a lovely picnic lunch, played in the pool and then football on the grass...
Then it was home and upstairs to see Kirsty and the lovely wee Elliott - already three months old!
Friday, 5 August: Summer Exhibition
In the morning we went to the Royal Academy of Art for a children's workshop at the summer exhibition. It was great fun and we all went around several works, being informed about them and the children invited to speak about them. It was interesting to hear their views... they were also asked to guess the prices. The first piece we looked at and talked about was a stack of four chairs by Martin Creed, on sale for £60,000! This piece informed the sculpture pieces that the children made later - "a tower of four of anything". In the meantime, we took a tour...

"Four flowers" by Ruby.
After the RA we took a bus to Rebecca's so that I could do some work. We then ate an absolutely delicious Indian supper - all full to the brim! Thank you Rebecca! X
Saturday, 6 August: BBQ at Rebecca and Jonathan's
First, a present arrived from Gran...
Finn was decked out ready to meet soul brothers in the form of Simon and Jonathan!
He managed some football in the park across from the apartment (view from Rebecca's terrace).
Monday, 8 August: Playscheme
There were a couple of days or so that I had to be at work during the holidays and today was one of them, so the children headed off to Playscheme. Ruby made a lovely cat!
Tuesday, 9 August: Chez Bob
It was nearly our holiday time so we wanted to meet Dave for a meal before we went. We scheduled to meet at Bloomsbury to have a meal at one of the restaurants at the Brunswick Centre. But it was completely closed up (with some shops boarded up) due to the riots that were sweeping London since Sunday (we were first affected that day when we tried to get to Rebecca and Jonathan's by bus). So, we took a bus to Belsize Park and most places were closed there too. Fortunately, Chez Bob was open and
for that it was rewarded with our custom!

Then, it was time to wait to go to Turkey on Thursday, 11 August. We were so excited!
